Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. These include pupils who are entitled to free school meals (FSM), those looked after by the local authority and children of armed service personnel. The intended effect of this funding is to accelerate progress and raise attainment.
It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.

Pupil Premium at Leigh and Bransford Primary School
At Leigh and Bransford, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive. Our Pupil Premium funding is used to provide a wide range of additional support that enhances both academic progress and personal development.
How We Use the Funding
We use our Pupil Premium to:
- Provide targeted one-to-one and small group interventions
- Support high-quality teaching across the school
- Build confidence, resilience, and self-belief in our pupils
- Remove barriers to learning and ensure all children can succeed
Our aim is to ensure that all pupils, regardless of background, make strong progress and reach age-related expectations as they move through school.
Monitoring Impact
We carefully track the impact of our Pupil Premium spending through:
- Termly assessments of pupil progress and attainment
- Regular pupil progress meetings between class teachers and senior leaders
- Monitoring of attendance and engagement
- Oversight by the Senior Leadership Team and SENDCo
- Regular updates to our Governing Body
Support is not limited to children eligible for Pupil Premium; other pupils with similar needs may also benefit from interventions.
