Beyond the Classroom

Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

Inspiring learning, confidence and curiosity at every age

At Leigh & Bransford we believe education happens everywhere — not just in the classroom. Our pupils benefit from a rich programme of clubs, trips, performances and community activities that spark curiosity, build skills and create lasting memories.

Clubs and Enrichment

We offer a wide range of after-school and lunchtime clubs that change each term to reflect pupils’ interests. From gardening and forest school activities to coding, chess and book clubs, every child can find somewhere to follow a passion or try something new. Our clubs:

  • Encourage teamwork and resilience
  • Develop practical and creative skills
  • Provide leadership opportunities for older pupils

Sports

Sport is a big part of school life. Regular PE lessons are complemented by extra-curricular sports including football, netball, athletics and multi-skill sessions. Pupils have the chance to represent the school at friendly fixtures and inter-school competitions, promoting fitness, fair play and pride in personal improvement.

Music, Drama and the Arts

Music lessons and performance opportunities are available throughout the school — from classroom singing to instrumental lessons and school productions. We celebrate creativity with:

  • Class assemblies and seasonal concerts
  • Art workshops and gallery-style displays of pupil work
  • Opportunities to learn instruments and perform to peers and families

Outdoor Learning

We make the most of our school grounds and local environment with regular outdoor learning sessions. These activities encourage curiosity about nature, practical problem solving and physical wellbeing — and are accessible to every year group.

Leadership and Community

Pupils are encouraged to take active roles in school life. Through pupil voice groups, buddy schemes and charity projects, children learn to lead, to serve others and to become thoughtful citizens. Community links, including partnerships with local organisations, broaden pupils’ perspectives and strengthen our ties with the local area.
