Admissions

Welcome to Leigh and Bransford Primary School! We are delighted that you are considering joining our school community. Below is a simple guide to help you understand our admissions process.

We warmly welcome prospective families to visit Leigh and Bransford Primary School. We hold two open days in the Autumn term and school tours at other points in the year are available by appointment and offer a great opportunity to explore our learning environment, meet staff, and ask questions.

Please contact the school office to arrange a visit.

Reception Admissions

Children are usually admitted in the September following their 4th birthday.

Key Date: Applications for Reception places must be submitted by 15th January 2025 via Worcestershire County Council.

Planned Admission Number (PAN)

We have space for 30 pupils in our Reception class.

Admission Priorities

If more applications are received than places available, we will allocate places using the following criteria:

  1. Looked After and Previously Looked After Children
  2. Siblings already attending the school
  3. Children eligible for Service Premium
  4. Children of staff employed at the school
  5. Distance from home to school
  6. Tie-breaker by random allocation if needed

Deferred or Delayed Entry

In some cases, parents may feel their child is not yet ready to start school in the usual Reception year. Options such as deferring (starting later in the same academic year) or delaying (starting in the following academic year) may be available depending on individual circumstances.

These decisions are considered carefully and must be discussed directly with the Headteacher. We encourage parents to get in touch if they are considering this route, so we can offer guidance and support tailored to your child’s needs.

In-Year Applications

If you are applying outside the usual Reception intake, please contact the school directly. If the year group is full, you may appeal via an independent panel.

Waiting Lists

If we are oversubscribed, we maintain a waiting list ranked according to the same criteria above.

Special Considerations

  • Children with EHCPs are placed via the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Children of UK Armed Forces and Crown Servants have specific support for relocation.
